I'm searching for a fantom battery killer on my 1997, 7.3 F250.
New batteries since it sat and killed what I had, alternator tested good since I was already at Napa..
.
When I touch the battery cable on the terminal I get a small spark with everything turned off, which in old days meant something was drawing current.
I also get a click from this keyless entry module under the dash when connecting touching the cable on terminal.. So is this keyless module supposed to click when first connecting batteries ? Also if I pull the 3 plugs off the module and try to start the truck will it screw up anything else ?
Only way I know to locate a phantom load is process of elimination..
You will always get a little spark on modern vehicles due to all the electronics waking up, so that test is no good. You need to put an ammeter between the battery post and terminal and see what the amperage draw is.
