I can't speak to the validity of "NEW" on that starter. My recommendations are to either rebuild your OEM starter, get a TRUE Denso replacement (NOT a Denso-STYLE replacement), or get a Mitsubishi replacement.
You could scour eBay for a used but good 6.0 starter or maybe there is a way to make a 6.4 or 6.7 unit fit. Not sure on that. Those can be had for very reasonable and are obviously better quality than anything from the parts store.

Pete wrote almost exactly what I was going to write.
I’m guessing that has to be a reman part for $159. New-new ones are usually up over $300 easily. It is unlikely you’ll get 20 years out of any remanned starter.
if you can have the truck down for awhile having the original one redone by the shop might be an okay option though. Up to you.
Thanks so far guys!! I love the way the Denzo spins the engine so fast in the Video! Almost sounds like a 6.0 starting up!!
I'm going to take my truck to my auto electric guy and ask him to check the current draw on my original and ask what all is done on a COMPLETE, no $$ spared REBUILD....
Be very careful to make sure you get a REAL Denso (really, Nippondenso) starter, if you go that route. There are TONS of Denso-STYLE overseas knockoffs out there with a wide range of mixed longevity (even from otherwise reputable companies).

Get an estimate first. You might be surprised it is kind of expensive. Alternator shops often want darn near what a new one would cost to rebuild one.
Actually the 6.4/6.7 starters spin the fastest I think. 6.0 guys often ditch their stock ones for one of those. It doesn't necessarily start the engine much faster...maybe a little but it definitely turns it over faster. The Denso spins fast too. It puts out more kW power than the stock one.
Guys, Hopefully I did this right; I sent an Email to Pensacola Diesel asking questions about this starter; I received a reply FROM THE OWNER OF PENSACOLA DIESEL!!
Hello, You are selling this starter as brand new as in NO PART OF IT HAS EVER BEEN USED OR INSTALLED on an engine?
WILL it come in a MOTORCRAFT box?
IS Motorcraft & part number stamped on it?
Reason I'm asking these questions is that the guys on the FTE site seem to think it is being sold way to cheap to be 100% brand new OEM MOTORCRAFT unit NEVER REBUILT.
Rick, Yes to all your questions.... There is a reason we were the #1 reseller of Motorcraft Ford parts in the Southeast the last 3 years ... the guys on the forums have no idea about our business, 99% of what they say on there is completely false & hear say... everything we list is listed 100% correct , we dont false advertise or mislead customers... 25 yrs in business ... If you cant tell I get a little agrevated by these site guys , talking about things they just dont know... I normally dont answer our ebay questions but this was forwarded to me ... Phillip Walters - Owner Pensacola Diesel... Thanks & Hope you give us a chance to earn your business..
Guys, I really am NOT aiming to bring any sort of religion into this thread BUT I have found in my travels and dealings with auto and truck repair shops, just about any business that is faith based IS 100% honest and straight up-the way ALL businesses should be!!
I DON'T go to church on Sundays to have a relationship with our Lord, I have a GREAT relationship in the privacy of either of my trucks or even when I am home alone!!
Please scroll down towards the bottom of their webpage to see what I mean.
Again, CERTAINLY NOT meaning to offend ANYONE of ANY religious beliefs.
I could be legit. I just don't see how they are selling them new that cheap but who knows. Give it a shot. I wouldn't say 99% of what you will read here is false or hearsay. (98% maybe)
O'Reillys. I got their premium starter, had to replace the first one I got. But the second one spins like a gear reduction and has been on for quite a while now.
I really like Phillip's attitude, I do admit that him saying that 99% of what guys said on forums wasn't 100% true was a bit harsh.
I live probably 550 miles away from him over in Palm Bay, Florida and am thinking of getting in contact with him and getting some much needed work done on my truck by them.
I'd arrange it to have an appointment and plan on staying 1-2 days while they do the work.
I'm going to get MY 20 year old original starter tested 9 ways to Sunday and IF its bad which I think we all know it is I'm going to buy the brand new Motorcraft unit from Phillip.
