Starter besides Denzo?
I am looking at starters now, I really think that my 20 year old original is getting very weak.
Again, My batteries have been checked by 2 sources and checked good.
I have an excellent auto electric shop here close by that certainly CAN rebuild my original to like new condition.
I am considering THAT, a BRAND NEW original Motorcraft unit, or possibly the famous Denzo unit.
All I want is another 20 years out of a starter, I really don't want to fool with the heavy beast again-EVER!
Here is a link to the BRAND NEW MOTORCRAFT unit-(I have heard good things about Pensacola Diesel before)
IS there any difference between THIS starter and MY ORIGINAL? (Both Motorcrafts)

funny, doesnt look anything like a motorcraft starter.
nose cone, FoMoCo sticker , not to mention my employee price is $400 bucks. i call BS on it being a new motorcraft
I ordered a new OEM Ford Motorcraft starter for my 99 7. 3 from a local Ford dealer. The paperwork provided indicates it is made by Mitsubishi and a label on the box says “ Made in China”. Is everything made in China now except the Denso.
See picture of the " Made In Japan" stamp on my old / original starter. The new Ford Motorcraft starter I received from my local Ford dealer had Motorcraft stamped on the starter and the packaging had Ford Motorcraft on it but the packaging also had " Made In China " on the Ford Motorcraft sticker.
Could it be that Ford or International / Navistar used Denso starter when built ??
No. NipponDenso hadn't quite released their segmented conductor windings yet back when Ford was partnered with International and actively producing the 7.3L engine. Denso made starters, but not the kick butt and take names starters that Denso makes today.
Back in the late 90's, Ford turned to Mitsubishi for the high demand rotating electrical needs. Mitsubishi supplied the highest amp Ford OEM alternator for ambulance duty, and Mitsubishi supplied the OEM starter for the 7.3L of our era.
By the way, thanks for the photo. I normally don't requote photos, but am doing so in this case because you captured an informative yet easily missed evidentiary detail.
