The 51-2 models with the deluxe interior option, or "Extra Cab" had a dome light as part of the option package. It was placed above the rear window, as shown here.
Question for you 48-52 guys. Does anyone reproduce the thermacoustic headliner for 48-52 trucks. You know a headliner with the perforated holes. There are none made for the 53-56 trucks which came with the Deluxe Cabs (53&54) and the Custom Cabs (55&56).
As a matter of fact the Standard Cab style cardboard headliner reproductions are a poor facsimile of the original. The originals had a grain pattern in the cardboard. The repops are simply gray painted cardboard.
The 48-50 Canadian models had them. I have a spare if you need one.
Thank you. I actually just purchased one since I was going to attempt to put in a headliner. I checked the 3 trucks I have here and none of them had one to use as a location.

As far as I know, no. I've never seen one. I've often thought about how one could make the perforations. Spend 3 days with an awl very carefully, rolling pin with tacks stuck to it...hmmm.

Both my trucks are Standard Cabs. I kept the original headliner in my 55 even though it has a crack on the passenger side because I didn't want the plain looking repop. If my 54 were a Deluxe Model I'd be ticked since they don't make the perforated kind.
lI was able to purchase a cardboard style headliner. It is black. The fit, with a little work should work out sufficently.
I will have to look back into my receipts to find what supplier purchased from.
Dome light; Wiring diagrams show a light located in the middle of the roof of cab. The wire running down the driver's side windshield post.
On the 51 52 extra cabs the dome light wiring goes from the drivers side door jam button to the passengers side door jam button up to the dome light switch at the dome light.
The original 51-2 dome light wiring was routed like Tom said. You can see the wires in my pic above. The wires ran from left to right under the dash, then over the passenger door. Same with the fuel sender wire. The door jamb switches are mentioned in the Extra Cab ad. That light also had an on-off switch as part of the lamp assembly in addition to the door jamb switches, and it, too, can be seen in the pic, right below the lamp. You could turn it on without having to open a door from there.
