2019 F150, adding brake controller
Hello all. It's been a while since I've been on the forum (about, oh, nine years or so). Good to see the forum is still here.
Picked up my brand new 2019 XLT SCrew 4x4 with nav, 3.73 elocker, and trailer tow package. Unfortunately it didn't come with the integrated trailer brake controller and that's something I'll eventually need. (Why Ford didn't automatically make the ITBC part of the Trailer Tow Package is a real head-shaker.) After spending the better part of an hour reviewing the MASSIVE trailer brake controller thread over on the F150 forum ( https://www.f150forum.com/f82/2018-f...estion-399287/ ) and doing a fairly in-depth search here, including the READ THIS FIRST thread on addding ITBC to 18+ ( https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...to-18-yet.html ), I am still a bit in the dark about 2019 year compatibility. I have yet to find a concrete answer if the JL3Z-2C006-AA / JL3Z-19H332-AA controller head spec'd for 2018 is the correct part for 2019 trucks. Tasca, Fordpartsonline, etc. give some indication it is, but also pop up a warning that it isn't. In fact, they don't even list the ITBC on the Brake section parts list if you drill down using the "Select My Vehicle" option.
I don't see any mention of fuse box issues for MY 2019 but I figure I should ask about that, too.
Plan is to install the controller myself then have my local dealer enable it. I'm completely comfortable doing it with ForScan but want it to be an "official" part of the trucks build so it doesn't get "accidently" erased during potential future repairs.
Summary...
A) Is there still an issue with the missing fuse in certain builds or was it solved for the 2019 MY.
B) Can anyone verify that the JL3Z-2C006-AA / JL3Z-19H332-AA parts will/won't work with a 2019?
Thanks,
Brad

You need the JL3Z-2C006-AA, the other part number you mentioned is for the 15-17 trucks. There is no benefit to having a ford dealership do the activation over doing it yourself with forscan. No matter what, when you pull the vin for your truck and pull the as builts it will always show disabled for the trailer brake controller.
Ford390, thanks for the info.
It was my understanding that having Ford do the controller enablement would effectively add the controller to the truck's as-built configuration. Is that incorrect?

There's no adding to an as-built; that's why it's called as-built. As stated above, you can enable it with Forscan or the dealer can with their software; the method and end result are the same.
