Hey Eric!!! YES! Thats exactly what mine is doing, ambient doesn't matter. I used Forscan and I can see that the evaporator temp sensor reads anywhere from 34-38 degrees. So if this is true reading, I find it hard to believe that air gains 10+ degrees going from evaporator housing to center vent. So I started investigating. I went out when the truck sat overnight and used Forscan to see what the Evap Temp Sensor read, it said 87 degrees. Ambient was 89. So I would say that rules out a faulty Evap Temp Sensor. Then I was thinking maybe the blend door sticking. I have dual climate zone, so I put driver side on hot, and passenger on cold. Then reversed. All seems to work ok and be pretty equal.
The last thing I checked was the Recirculate verses Fresh air. When you put the switch on, you can hear the change in Air flow as if it is working. But, that doesn't mean the recirculate door isn't shutting all the way. Forscan can show you position of the Recalculate door. When in Fresh Air, it shows "Fresh Air", when it is in Recirculate, it shows "error". No Fault codes though. I am not sure this means a problem or just a fluke with Forscan because I google searched it and some others had the same issue with Forscan.
It is definitely the oddest thing ever. At the dealership, I had the service manager sit in a 2019 F150 with me, and within a few moments center temp was 42 degrees. Where my 2019 F250 was 47-48. Our 2019 Edge goes down to 38-40 no problem. This is all sitting side by side, so something isn't right, in my opinion.
yes that's what mine does however I haven't verified evap temps like you did. they seem normal, if they were any colder the evap could freeze up. It sounds like a blend door and or calibration issue to me. does forscan have the ability to recal door positions? I can also feel the a/c compressor cycle at highway speeds, it very minor and doubtful that anyone would notice but me, none the less I can feel it. Don't know your mileage or driving environment but woudn't hurt to check your cabin filter. By the way the recirc door will never close all the way, this is normal. I'll follow along to see what you find. I'm out of warranty so it'll be on my dime I'm sure.
No dog in the fight but I never felt like my 2016 F150 Lariat or my new 2019 F250 Lariat is anywhere near as good as my old 2006 F250 XLT air conditioning. Thankfully cooled seats help the situation.
And as others have alluded to MAX AC on Full Speed isn't as good as backing it down to Fan Speed 3
