I know this issue was brought up in the past. I have not seen an update on this in quite some time. I'm just looking to try to prevent tampering. I do not want to get a locking fuel door, I'd like to keep the "stock look. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
just a wild idea:
- research if wider neck could be installed instead of smaller DEF one,
- get standard neck and standard locking DEF cap,
- install them. Some retrofitting/plumbing will be required.
From my experience of locking door installation, you might find enough space under the protective cover. Both necks sit on the metal plate.
You can easily remove the cover after both caps removed. Start from the right side - there are 2 plastic keys on the right. I pried it from the middle. It's easy to remove/reinstall, so you might start there.
No such thing that I have been able to find so far, sorry. I'm all ears if someone has found something...... I too would like to prevent tampering, and avoid contamination issues, but am not interested in altering the fuel door on my truck.
There are aftermarket locking doors available for the 17+ SD, but since they are kind of gawdy, I never bothered to remember who makes 'em.
