W10 frustrations
But now, M$ is forcing me to W10 -- and it's even less fun than when I had to go from XP to W7. At least i solved some of my issues when I added Super Finder XT and didn't have to use their lame search.
But OK - W10 had been going kind of OK. Today, I tried to add an external keypad/mouse (wireless). I knew that they worked because I used them on another machine.
Well, the screwy non intuitive and crippled settings facility recognized them and said that they were all set up. Unfirtunately they were not. No functions. Tried rebooting, tried rebooting and then pluggung in the wireless, stood on my head -- reinstalled - all to no avail.
Tonight I moved my printer over -- a cheap HP printer scanner. Have plugged it into 2 W7 machines - no issues. Well, it does print --but I don't have the cute little HP interface to show me my ink levels etc. It might fax -- but again no interface -- although they did offer me a free one from the M$ store. Told me that I could get drivers and showed a list. HP was not listed in the manufacturers section. The driver list shows a bunch of numbers -- probably belonging to the manufacturers that they list.
Every time that they make things easier they seem to remove information and take away settings that you used to have. I'm so tired of 'wizrds' buzzing off and either just failing or not really accomplilshing anything.
It just seems that they had things to the point that they pretty much worked and they've now improved them to the point where they're nearly useless.
Oh yes, my W7 can connect to the W10 shared forder and access the files -- but the W10 can NOT do the reverse. It used to, but apparently was updated.
grrrr
