Doing my first oil change, gonna take the advice on here and go full syn 5-40 t6 Same as my father runs. He has an 03 ex but he also adds archoil to his, does anyone else do this or ever heard of this? Is this necessary unless I'm already having issues or is this more of a safety if I prefer to have it, can it cause a problem for me if I'm not careful with it? Any advice would be great, thanks
I have used Archoil 9000 additive for the oil several times. I wasn't having problems, I just wanted to see its impact on the oil analysis. It does cause the oil viscosity to drop some, but it really isn't an issue. I didn't see any impact on wear metals when using it. I know quite a few people who have used it and they have had no issues.
Personally, I see no need to add it unless you have an issue with injector stiction.
No additives needed to modern oil. I actually refer to that aisle in the parts store as 'snake oil island.'
Only additives I use is Ford's pm22 fuel lube/cetane booster. It is made by Stabil and the exact same formula is sold by Stabil (the 20oz bottle is identical).

Thats exactly what I use. 446k on my truck and 230k on my exc.

How about 8 injectors with stiction? My 03 with 265K on the clock and all original injectors would run terribly without it. I use it with every oil change and Delo 5w-40. Still have to warm it up mornings before heading out, or acceleration blows until it gets up to temp, but the truck runs much better with the Archoil.
And btw, Mark, its Archoil AR9100. (I do enjoy the opportunity to correct you, as you are so rarely wrong )

I've noticed this truck runs pretty low on the high pressure oil system when up to temp, around 5 to 6 hundred psi. I'm worried cause I've got the 04 with the icp on the valve cover! not positive the pump isn't shot but it will shoot almost 4000 psi when I pull hard. I've checked my ipr duty cycle, it's pretty steady at about 21% at idle, on a WOT. run it maxed out at 74% and walked back down till it shifted. I was told when I bought it that the oil was always changed with the factory recommend 15-40 syn blend, soooo. . . . If I swap to a 5 - 40 full syn and add a the archoil am I going to make the symptoms more pronounced or cause a problem with a thinner oil in the mix? Will it make that much of a difference in the high pressure system? Or should I just stick to the 15-40 full syn and stay away from additives unless I need them in the future? Thanks in advance for any help
