I have seen some lube on a new o-ring, also there is this:

Per your owners manual:
Lube O-ring with lubricant packet in the filter kit. This will assist in making sure the filter is properly tightened

All I've used is the Motorcraft FD4615 kit that I've ordered on Amazon. I don't remember any lubricant packet in the box. Unless I have dementia...

There is no lube packet. The O-ring does come its own cellophane wrapper pre-lubricated. By the time it's installed most of its lubrication is gone and needs to be re-oiled.

Okay that sounds familiar. It does look like it had something on it in the wrapper. I put fresh motor oil on the o ring, but will do it on the housing threads this next change.

There's never been any and any of them that I've purchased as well from them unless someone's keeping the lube at the factory for God only knows why.

Finally got my rail fuel filter off

Well, I ordered an extra filter housing in case I trashed the current one getting it off. I thought it best to start over with my 1/2" ratchet and socket. I got under the truck and found spots for both legs to brace myself and gave it my best crank. Believe it or not I got it to start moving, so, after getting it started I kept cranking and managed to get it off but broke 2 sides of the plastic nut in the process. I appreciate all the feedback! I put some oil on the O ring and the threads so hopefully it won't be so hard next time.

Thanks again to all!

Glad to hear you got it off and were prepared with a new housing.
