I’m wanting to build a 460 based motor for my 79 Bronco and I’ve never messed with big blocks so I’m looking for some advice.
i already have a pair of Ford Racing aluminum SCJ heads that I’m gonna use and I’m thinking of using a Weiand 8021 Intake with the CJ ports to match the heads.
Is this head and intake combo a waste and not ideal on a 466 build? It looks like an eagle cast crank and H beam rods would be the cheapest route with this combo and the Scat crank and rods a little more $.
is the eagle stuff junk? I’ve had good success with scat on SBF builds in the past or am I going about this all wrong?
since I’m buying a crank and rods anyways should I look at one of Scat stroker cranks like the 4.300 stroke one they offer to make the best use of the heads I’m using and just build a stroker instead?
i have a Holley SA 670 carb new in the box from a previous build that I’m gonna exchange for either a 770cfm or 870cfm so I need to make a decision about building either a 466 or a 521.
i also plan to use one of the Comp XE 4x4 cams so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
just do your research, the weiand will out flow the edelbrocks, in an all out match, but remember that I am not certain that a piston is in current production for those head castings. Youlikely need to cut the valve reliefs on account that the castings have revised valve angles since with big lift the original a429 head the valves actually could hit each other.
