Hi, I'm a newbie here. I just upgraded my mirrors on my 2003 F250 6.0L Centennial Edition. I upgraded them with mirrors from a 2013 Harley Edition F250.Everything fits great, and they look great. My problem is the flat plugs do not match up. I have 7 wires on my original plug, the new ones have 9 wires. I know there are pigtails for a round 4 pin to a flat plug, but is there a pigtail out there for a flat to fit between these model years? Both old and new mirrors are power and heated, and have the turn signals on them, they are also manual fold and extend.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. Find a donor mirror with flat plug. You will have to cut than one off, push the pins out of the round one off the mirror, then wire the flat plug to the '13 mirror so you can connect it (pin removal tools are relatively inexpensive).
2. The same as #1 but order a flat plug from Ford (I've seen the connector catalog link posted in FTE but don't remember which thread).
3. Cut both plugs off and splice the wires together. This is the easiest and cheapest route but makes it difficult if you want to disconnect the mirror in the future.
Thanks. I was thinking about splicing them. I don’t have the round plugs at all.
But, the truck set is 7 wires, the mirror set up is 9 wires. Trying to figure out the reason for the two extra wires?
