4WD electrical problems - troubleshooting steps?
In the process of troubleshooting my ESOF and 4WD system. While chasing a vacuum problem I seemingly ended up getting my transfer case stuck in 4WD with 4X4 being lit up on the cluster. The dash switch would not switch back to 2WD. So I pulled the transfer case motor/actuator, left it plugged in, and the dash switch still would not actuate it with it hanging free underneath the truck.
Pulled the two relays from the ESOF box beside the battery and have tested them with a multimeter. They're testing good and working properly.
I have the dash switch removed and disassembled, but I'm unsure how to test it. They're a bit pricey, I'd rather not buy one unless I needed to. How can I test it with a multimeter?
How can I test the transfer case actuator motor with it off the truck? Or can I?
How can I test that the transfer case motor is getting power underneath the truck? There are two plugs, one with heavier wires that plugs into the actuator itself and another plug with several wires that plugs into what looks like an encoder sensor thing up at the top of the assembly.
What fuses and other relays control the 4WD system? I have a good supply of fuses handy.

Thanks!
