When I switch my 2004 f350 SD 4X4 into 4wd high or 4wd low it doesn't make the switch. I checked the hubs and both are in auto. I tried them in lock position but still no 4wd. Any suggestions?
Does the 4WD light in the dash come on? Do you hear the transfer case make that oh so cool noise when it engages? If not there could be something wrong in there, or maybe a blown fuse to the transfer case motor/solenoid that engages the front driveshaft. I'm not a heavy like some here, but maybe a place to start.
What do the 60lb brains on the forum think?
I read posts like this, I get warm fuzzy feelings for my manual hubs and case.
But, boj760 is on the right track. How do you know that you do not have 4 wheel drive? No dash lights telling you 4H or 4L is activated? No noise when you turn the switch?
Your problem seems to be centered on the transfer case shift motor. It is either inoperative or is not getting power.
