So after the help from some FTE members I replaced the homemade fuses in my fuse panel/junction block with the proper size and found out why the PO had rigged the fuses to not blow, bad headlight switch. Replaced it with a new one from my local parts store. And gained my cab light back, plus no blown fuses when battery hooked up.
Question I have is, is it normal for the instrument cluster lights to go brighter when the **** is turned counter clockwise? (Towards cab light turn on) and dimmer as you turn clockwise. Seems weird to me.
Otherwise switch and fuses fixed all electrical issues.
Thanks in advance!
I think that sounds right. Make sure ground and battery cables are fresh, and tightened securely to clean, unpainted metal at frame and block, firewall, etc. This is what roasts light switches to begin with, high resistance, they have pretty long runs of wire to the headlights and stop lights.
