I have a problem with the Headlamp switch. If I pull the switch all the way out the console/cluster lights go out and and tail lights go out while the headlights come on. If I partially move the switch to a position between running lights and Full Headlights I can get everything to light up normally. Second problem is that I thought the issue would be the Headlamp switch. I pulled the cluster and replaced the unit with an aftermarket unit and it did the same thing with the exception that I could not get the new switch to balance between running light mode and Full Headlight mode.
I would take the assembly apart again and make sure that everything looks proper. There could be something in the wire harness connector that might be loose. Possibly one of the wires that terminate in the large plug may be out of wack or the same with the connections on the switch.
Also, I would question that aftermarket headlight switch. Not to say that using something aftermarket is bad. It's slightly possible that the new switch could have it's own problems. Good luck. Jake.
You've burnt the parking light fuse, but you have to fix the short before replacing the fuse. Look around your trailer connector or any other mods to the taillight/dash light wiring.
You know what Steve, I think you may be on to something...The problem seemed to start after a fishing trip where I did do some towing...perhaps it was the "borrowed" trailer that KO'd my fuse. It was pretty shoddy looking. I will check that out in the morning.
whaynes,
I'm currently having the same problem with my '93. Exact same problem, minus the fact that I havent hooked up a trailer anytime recently. I know its been a while since this was originally posted but hopefully you have fixed it and can point me in the right direction. Thanks
