With all the maintenance that the 6.0s require as well as the truck, What are you guys doing to your truck- monthly, yearly?
I don't put many KM on my truck in a year it pulls my landscape trailer all summer and sits all winter.
I change my oil at 5000 km no matter how long it takes, I change my coolant filter annually. Its over due for a tranny flush and its next coolant flush. I used to clean my EGR with every oil change but I've since pulled the throttle plate and left the egr unhooked.
anyone doing pulling EBP's and cleaning them weekly? Other 6.0 OCD items?
My schedule is attached (the document contains the recommendations from the owners manual - Diesel Supplement). I see no need for routinely pulling and cleaning the EBP unless there is an underlying problem.
That's a cool file mark. The ebp was Just a joke obviously
I started this because before the snow flys I'm doing a tranny flush and coolant again. I was reading some old posts about guys greasing the front wheel bearings through the abs hole. As well as people cleaning out the hmfc.
Cleaning out the HFCM manifold through the water drain port is a good idea if you are prone to having bad fuel in the area. Assuming that fuel quits draining w/ an open plug, you can spray WD40 or something similar up in there to flush it. The fuel in our area is great, so I only drain the water every oil filter and every fuel filter change.
I never greased the wheel bearings. The drivers side recently had to be replaced. Passenger side is still fine. 215k miles on the truck.
I keep a logbook with vehicles and equipment, this is how I have the one set up for the F-350. Using Excel, I chose the maintenance schedule parameters for my operation.
Someone is going to ask why I did 10k fuel changes rather than 15k. Back with my '01 F-250 7.3L I did some fuel filter testing for George Morrison at AV fuel. This was documented on TDS. The station that I was often getting fuel from, despite having new tanks, was one of the worse for dirt in fuel. Yes, I gravitated away from that station, but it was just a good precaution for the time frame and new trucks. I don't know where the hell I have that data anymore.....
Power steering fluid 'filter'? Am I missing something?
My schedule that has worked well for 180k miles:
Oil 5k
Diff fluid 75k
Trans fluid 30k
Fuel filters 15k
Coolant 100k using ELC
Air Filter 50k (could go longer)
Key shaped oring on fuel pressure regulator 70k (it can fail)
