Anyone real good with wiring?

I brought my '89 Aerostar to a repair center last week to have some damage from a rear-end collision repaired (left rear, under the tail light). I get the thing back today and for some reason all of my speakers aren't working except the front right. After some fiddling around with wires today, I got the ones in front to both work (kinda). But all the rear ones are silent.

What the heck do I do about this now? Anyone know troubleshooting for this?

Check to be sure that the "speakers" button on the rear control panel is depressed. It may be set to earphones

I'll look into that. I have a custom CD player installed, no Amp or EQ. Everyone knows what a pain those things can be to wire to ancient Aerostar wiring systems.

When I bought my Aerostar, the seller complained that all she got was the front speakers working after getting an aftermarket Panasonic AM/FM Cassette put in.

After playing with the controls of the stereo, I determined that whenever the car's battery was disconnected, the unit would "default" to having only the speakers faded fully to the front.

After playing with the controls of the stereo, I was able to get all 6 speakers working.

Welll, after working on it for about 6 hours, I solved the problem. Somehow one of the wires had been cut or shorted someplace where I can't reach it. Luckily, with all the new speakers I bought, I had plenty of speaker cable to use, so I took down lots of my van's paneling and hid the stuff back there and put them down through the dashboard and basically re-wired the circuit to my rear speakers. They sound great now. Lots of work, but great and customizable for amps later on if I wish.
