Gas Tank repair

I developed a leak on my rear feul tank, looks like a small crack, I went ahead an ordered a new one today, but was wondering if anyone has repaired a tank, can it be welded or patched, just curious

Most radiator shops can fix them, they boil it out and solder it up like a radiator.

I bought one online for 100 brand new, I wonder what a radiator shop would have charged me

when i cleaned out my gas tank with muratic acid, the acid made a hole in my tank, so i soldered a penny in its spot, no problems whatsoever, of course there wasn't gas in the tank at the time, my grandfather used to weld up gas tanks with gas in them before.

EDIT: I also used RedKote on the inside of my gas tank so i dont have to worry about this again.
