I have found a e99 F350 Supercab 4x4 7.3 with a ZF6 and 293K on the clock....no rust underneath, no blow by, all stock still. Its a bit dusty, but the seats are all intact too.
I already have a 2000 Excursion with the 7.3 and a 01 F250 with the 7.3 and ZF6, both have forged rods and the Hydra..
I am planning on using this e99 as a part time work truck...firewood cutting, Home Depot trips, taking the family out to the range, camping....maybe to work a couple times a week. I need the room of a supercab, but not the length of a CC.
I am considering that I will need to upgrade the turbo to the late 99 setup, the HPOP, and at some point the injectors.
Am I going to be disappointed in the power, or will a Hydra and the above mentioned mods help in that dept? Are parts harder to find for these?
The sticker date is 04/98 and the spring setup is a W front and B back, so I imagine I will need to do some suspension work too.
The price is $3K, which is what is tempting me. Any thoughts on these e99 models would be welcome. Thanks for your help.
Mine is an E99 and I don't see anything about it that should scare you off. In fact I'd just leave it be that way as you won't see much of an improvement with an upgrade (I have done it). You could tune it, give it better intake and 4" exhaust if you want but that's as far as I would go knowing what I know now. I have heard of 'W' front springs but you are the first I've spoken with who would have them.
So the gains with the late 99 turbo and HPOP arent worth it?
I am not going to argue, but if I could get away with simply rebuilding the old one, changing the IC and plenum boots ....I am all smiles. I figured I would have to spend some serious $ to get back the difference. Exhaust and intake are definitely among the first things to go.
I had an e99 with the 4r100 and now a 2000 with a ZF6. The e99 with the same tune, billet wheel and exhaust that i have on the 2000 pulled just as hard. If the 15* HPOP is healthy it will hold pressure even in a hotter tune with the 120CC injectors. if you get it, I would try it before changing everything out to the late setup.

Good luck!
Thanks for the advice....I am glad I have something to compare it to. Do you know if I can replace the 15* with an Adrenaline model?
Wow....$689 for one...maybe a rebuild would be better on the wallet if wont make that much difference.

You can. It will be a newer 17* design but it is a direct replacement. Like Sous said the CNC Fab would be my first choice or a new Bosch over the Adrenaline. "Don't fix it if it ain't broke" would be my approach to the HPOP.
If/when my HPOP dies, Corey at CNC Fabrication will be getting my money.

Gentlemen, thanks for those responses....I will be replacing it "when and if its needed". I understand the e99's came with single shot injectors too.
