Okay, I have done a lot of searching, reading, watched a couple YouTube videos and remain a bit confused. Just starting this project on the '56 and I will need to eventually install both side windows (one is missing and the other is cracked). A few of the things I have seen say that you install the window through the top "slot" and lower it into place by going in sideways and then adjusting it to the normal horizontal once you get it down inside the door. I have also seen that with the regulator out, the separator bar either out or loose and the rear track loose you slide the window in through the bottom maintenance/inspection opening (don't know the actual name of the large mid/lower door hole). Any advice or direction would be most welcomed.
My passenger window is scratched from misalignment and missing felt (the clip could therefore rub the window). So I am interested in what you ultimately find out. Please update with how easy yours was to align (I have tried to align mine multiple times and got it "better", but the window still sits angled and not centered in the track... front is too far to the outside, and back is too far to the inside).

I always go in through the inspection access opening. When performing door work, refrain from any alcohol until you are done! The frosty beverages can wait!
While not an expert on 56 trucks, I can say the 48-52's go through the inspection hole, fwiw. I would recommend obtaining a copy of the factory service manual. It will have detailed instructions from the factory as to how the doors are assembled. Not just the doors, but everything else, as well.
