Here is my current situation. I have the 2013 F150 and have the code - P0451. (EVAP problem) Just read with my code reader. And the last few months, every time, my Check Engine Light comes on, it is for this EVAP crap.
Is anyone else Experiencing the same thing with this EVAP crap on their F150 ?? Even the Fuel Tube, where you fill with Gas, is a piece of junk. It seems to just be one thing after another.
And if you use the dealer for the Fix, it is always $300 or more.... I really like my Ford, but this has been a real problem. I really hope someone from Ford reads at this website. Thanks.
well the EVAP is monitoring the pressure in the fuel fill system........ if your "fill valve" is a "piece of junk" , that might be a good place to start looking / repairs.
I've replaced a LOT of canister purge valves on these trucks. I've seen a few where they collapsed the tank and bent the fuel pump mounts. Unplug the electrical connector and disconnect the line going to the tank and check for vacuum with the engine idling. There should be no vacuum present.
Mine was doing that, changed the Purge Valve on the motor and no more. You just happen to be blaming Ford for the rules the Feds put on them for Emissions.
As for the Capless fuel fill you can put a locking fuel Plug on it, not going to help the Purge Valve though.
