I have a 2005 F250 6.0 powerstroke. I began by removing the fuel filter below the frame rail changed it out and put a new o ring on but forgot to lubricate it with oil. I did the same for the 2nd fuel filter where the engine is also. Put everything back together and went to start the truck without cycling the key and it was fine for about 30 seconds and it had a rough idle. Turned it off and cycled the key 4 times and now it won’t start. Should I go back and oil the o rings? I opened up the fuel filter where the engine and noticed that diesel is very low and doesn’t seem to made its way in yet. I used ford motor craft fuel filters.
It could be the lower filter is not locked in, or the o-ring got damaged. I would pull it back down, check things out, lube the o-ring and try again.
When I do the fuel filters I remove the 4ga battery cable that is bolted to the positive terminal of the passenger battery. That powers the glow plugs. That way when I do my 4 to 6 key-on, no-start events to purge air and pressurize the fuel system the batteries are not drained down.. Then reconnect the alternator/glow plug cable and now engage the starter.
