FWIW I have heard on some other forums that Kirker's is Eastwoods supplier.
I have used Martin Senour from my local Napa on my daily driver with Finish1 clear from them. The fender I painted had 8 years on it, and the topper and tailgate had about 4 when I sold it.
Both looked just as good as they did when they were new....I wouldn't hesitate to use it again and very well may.
I really like the idea of getting a system from Eastwood or Summit and not having to try to piece it together at my local auto store (none of those guys are experts). The thing that scares me with Eastwood and Summit paints and colors, is what if you need to repaint something in a few years, will they still have the color? Whereas I can go to the local shop, pick ingot silver from an 2008 Ford catalog, and choose a shade and have it mixed really dang close...…...or even from a different manufacturer as long as it was a corporate color.
I am using PPG Deltron... Poly grey primer, then red base sealer, DBC base coat, and their clear....
The DBC "torch red" is $366 a QT ... Honestly you get what you pay for. primers block out so easy, paint holds on like a champ, base coat flows out flawless...
I reached out online to Southern Polyurethanes (SPI) and Kirker for information and color chips. Both were very responsive and mailed info promptly. Disappointed that SPI only has one single stage red. It is nice but not close to Vermillion / Torch Red OEM.
Kirker sent a very nice folder and large color chip chart. Their Viper Red appears very close to Vermillion/Torch Red. They also have an extensive online gallery of customer projects. One is a 55 in Viper Red!
you might check out https://www.tamcopaint.com/ also. I have not used any of their products, but they are reported to be great quality at a reasonable price. I follow them on Facebook, and the group is very supportive and helpful. I'm wanting to do some metalflake on my grill and wheels, and have learned a lot from that group...
Thumbs up for Tamco. I’ve been researching the same subject and ran across them awhile back. I purchased a quart of their Slick silver to see how bright it was and a gallon of their DTM primer to give it a shot. Impressed with the both. The primer is very high build and sands easy. The silver basecoat covered better than any silver I sprayed before and has a beautiful tint. Reasonably priced also.
