Rebuilt heads on 5.4 2V. Now it cranks but will not start. Fuel pressure good. No injector pulse. Replaced crank and cam position sensors. Wiring checks out so far from sensors to computer. Replaced computer and programed key for new computer thinking the ECM might be the problem, but still no fire. Any ideas?
Well, finally reached the last straw and sent my 00 expedition to a shop to find the problem of no start. I've never had to do that before. I guess it's the age that's getting to me. Oh well, I've got more projects to do.
Well, My 2000 Expedition is running and appears to be running well. The solution to my problem was simple, but I would have never got it with my equipment. The crank position sensor was wired backwards. When we had the Ford dealer rebuild the drive train the plug ended up backwards to run and nothing was said to us. When I removed the engine to rebuild the heads, I just unhooked the plug to the sensor and only noticed the keeper on the plug was broken off. When we re installed the engine, we just hooked the plug up the correct orientation and never thought anything about it. The plug had to be backwards for the engine to run at all. It was found on an oscilloscope to have a great sine-wave only backwards. I now wonder what other alligators are lurking from the dealer's work.
