Got somewhat of a crazy question.........given the problems I've noted above......would I be crazy to try and tow a vehicle before getting them looked at and fixed? I may need to get a vehicle from PA to MD on a Uhaul trailer. The van is the only thing I have that can do it but I don't want to make a potential minor problem a major one. What say you? It's an astro van

Its best to NOT piggy back an unrelated issue/question with a completely different brand vehicle onto an existing thread. While you might say the symptoms are similar whatever is at fault in your situation most likely is not related to issues discussed in this thread.

What I meant was I'd be towing an astro van with my E350. I just wanted to give people an idea of the weight.

To summarize....

Given the current issues with my E350 that are detailed in this thread, is it stupid to try and tow an astro van right now?

0193 For your own peace of mind I'd solve the problems with your E350 before going on a trip especially towing something. The Cylinder #9 misfire is easy enough to fix by itself---if your budget allows changing all 10 COP's and plugs I'd go that route but as I say its not necessary to change the COP's that aren't throwing DTC's. Plugs should be changed at 50K miles regardless what "they" say---its one way to ensure the longer-term health of the engine. As an added benefit changing at that interval greatly reduces issues with plug removal which can be common in the Modular Motors.

Your P0193 DTC should be sorted out especially if its appearance is along with the exceptionally rough idle and black smoke during first start. In most overly rich conditions the smoke would be whiteish with a noticeable fuel smell.
