Great info, thanks! My dealer provided some clarification and with your description, I understand much better now. Not sure we'll move forward on an F450 or not yet. I've really been loving my F350 but with as much weight as we haul, I'd sure be more comfortable and feel safer in an F450.
I am going on the 450 as per our discussion, plus I will be pulling a trailer, <5000 lbs, but added to the Host Mammoth I have on order I have a lot of weight in payload + tongue weight, albeit I did get a tandem wheel trailer to take some of the tongue weight off.
I debated a lot, but thinking back over my Superdutys, couple of times I thought I was saving some coin when in fact I ended up trading up. I could have saved buying at least 2 Superdutys had I gone big to begin with...of course you know what they say about 'hindsight'...
Took your advice and contacted Toms Camperland in Arizona. First location left me on hold for 2 minutes so I hung up and called the second location. Kyle answered immediately and we placed the order within the next few days. We went back and forth on the dinette versus the slide table and ended up heading to PC, in Round Rock, to look at Mammoth there. We found the slide table worked for us and figured it made it easier to get into the bathroom as well. Best part was we originally negotiated with All Seasons RV in Bend, OR and got a fantastic deal. Kyle not only beat it, he threw in the $2300 manufacturing delivery and $700 delivery to Gallop, NM. (to make it tax free). Really Impressed with the conversations with both Kyle and Randall up at Host, during the process of picking options. We opted for their top tier solar/ Lithium package and room for a Honda 2200 Genny in the space where the Onan is deleted. Take delivery in December

Very nice setup you have with a new F450 and a Host Mammoth!
My wife and I just bought a new Host Rainer. We had a little run in with the manufacture and things just went south from there. Our camper is very nice and seems to be well built. I just hope I don't have to have any work done at the factory. I still have a sour taste over the hole camper purchase, between the dealer and the manufacture.
On a good note our camper is wonderful and we like it a lot.
I wanted the Mammoth at first but thought it might be just a little too much for an F350, at this point I'm not sure it would have been.

Hate to hear, what dealer did you go thru? Got to ask, how bad can they screw things up??
We saw a Host Mammoth on a Dodge 3500 Ram a week ago up at Diamond Lake. As I saw it coming down the road towards us I was convinced it was mounted on a match box replica pickup. That Mammoth completely dwarfed that Dodge. It seemed to carry it just fine and the pickup did appear to have larger than stock sized tires on it. But, we were on a back road and traveling about 30 mph. Did make me wonder how well they did coming up the long 6% grade. They continued on down the road and didn't pull into the campground so I didn't get the opportunity to talk to them. It definitely appeared to be something that should rightfully be on an F450.
Speedway Chevrolet in Monroe Washington. I probably should take some of the blame, as I didn't do enough research. It sounds like you did!
Research has become the name of the game in today's world and yes I did a LOT of research on dealers and on the Host Mammoth. I cannot stress enough researching any kind of major buy like that.
'20 F 450, got a vin, should be delivered to dealer on 23 Dec.
Host Mammoth is built and arrived at the dealer Tom's Camper this past week and heading out to get it in Jan date TBD.
We ordered the rear wardrobe and the U shaped Dinette, I have NEVER seen this combo, seen the wardrobe 2x and the U shaped Dinette once, but never both in a unit.
Saw this earlier this month. Looks like this may have been yours (well one of them)
LOL, YES, one is yours and one is mine, bet this does not happen often.
I see snow in your pic, what part of the country do you guys live?
I may ask a favor of you: I need to tow a trailer and what I need to know is how long of a hitch extension underneath the rear of the mammoth am I going to need. I needed a 48 in extension when I had my Arctic Fox, but it had a rear door, so I needed more room. My trailer is 12 ft box and not sure what the "V" is, need to measure that.
