Yep. I think they make special rims that would fit but way to much $$$, I will just stick with a 350.

Good choice on both. I opted on a 2019 450 since the trade $$ they gave me on my F-250 KR at College Station was easily 8K better than anyone in Houston and he beat everyones prices except one guy in Great Lakes area. Wasn't going to cry over a few hundred when I was not losing 8K. As for your "local dealer" I can attest to PC's lack of enthusiasm in taking trades. I'm currently trying to sell my Lance 2295, to get a Host Mammoth.

Two things about your order caught my eye. We were looking at both options you took (wardrobe and dinette) because we like to have all our camera gear easily accessed. The moveable table seems neat but I'm worried about its longevity and my wife said she would rather face me while eating (I guess that means she still likes me). We really like the Pecan interior and the only dealer to date, ive seen that carried those wardrobes in stock, was D&H in NC. So special order it is.

We did speak to All Seasons, just around the corner from the Host manufacturing plant and got I think, an unbelievable price on a well optioned Mammoth (including the Norcold fridge and mid level off-grid package) but would have been screwed on trade in. I liked the no tax and no delivery options Oregon can subtract from the bottom line. I was going to contact Toms in Arizona and see what he would offer on my trade and go from there.

Only issue I'm having now is finding a suspension company that can add leafs and custom helpers and leave air bags and stable loads as secondary options. So far only place Ive seen is a place in Tacoma, Washington and he's doesnt have a web site. Hoping I can find some ideas on this forum.

Wardrobe makes more sense than another couch, in fact it makes not sense to 2 couchs at all IMO

Yea the silly up/down, sliding L/R table was a no go from the start for us. What I eat a few bites and slide the table over to the wife and she eats a few bites and slides it back, give me a break another accordion for my deer hunting trip.

Pecan vs 'Dark Days and Darker Nights'. It a TC sitting in the bed of a truck anything dark makes it look smaller than it is.

I will test the ride in the 450 paying attention to lateral lean and my bet is I will get a Big Wig to replace the OEM wet noodle swaybar. IF I need more I will add the upper Stable Loads only. In Fact I think based upon the price of the stable loads I will just grab a couple of bump stops and put them in, got every shape and size online. I really do not think you need extra leafs with the 450.

Get ahold of Allen at Toms Camper in Mesa he worked me a great deal on both my trade-in and the HM TC. Allen Greeley <Allen@tomscamperland.com> 480-894-1267. Tell him I suggested you give him a call and no I don't get a referral fee or anything like that.

I am going with the Tork lift Talons in Alum in Black frame mount front and rear, not cheap, but used them before and they are GREAT!

Ill reach out to Allen when I get back into the country. Calls from Guyana can be expensive. Ive seen those Mammoths on 350's and they sag them down a lot. Loaded their closer to 6K so I'm worried. could just go Super Springs helper springs at 3300 lbs. Their rollers deactivate when not under load. Maybe that big anti-sway bar too. Thought the stock one underneath looked pretty stout though.

Glad to hear good things about those Talons. Was looking at them as well. That Magnum hitch is impressive as well but a lot of cheese to spend when the factory 3" is plenty stout. Just not at extension

Would love some interior shots of the dinette when you get it. Ive not seen any of those yet.

Since people from Oregon may read this, I have to add that For Oregon residents, there is a tax.

Being an out of State Resident and licensing it out of state, gets an exemption, But for Oregon Residents reading this, there is a tax on the RV's. It is something most dealers will not mention to you until you sit down with the check book to do the final paperwork, down payment and licensing fees.

Oregon did put a hidden Sales Tax on new vehicles, to include new RV's, Camp Trailers and TRUCK CAMPERS, trailers of all types that have a GVRW over 1800#'s as well as Bicycles that exceed a certain retail value.
If you are NOT and Oregon Resident, the way to avoid that 1/2 of 1 percent "sales tax" is to purchase the vehicle out of state and license it out of state. So it comes down to, who's taxes are higher?

It cost us an extra $230 on our brand new 2020 Lance 1062.

https://www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/...use-taxes.aspx

New vehicle taxes

Two new Oregon vehicle taxes began January 1, 2018:
  • The vehicle privilege tax is a tax for the privilege of selling vehicles in Oregon.
  • The vehicle use tax applies to vehicles purchased from dealers outside of Oregon that are required to be registered and titled in Oregon.

One-half of 1 percent is due on the retail price of any taxable vehicle.

To be taxable, a vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:

  • A January 1, 2018 or later purchase date; and
  • Was driven 7,500 miles or less or sold with a manufacturer's certificate of origin (MCO/MSO)*; and
  • A gross vehicle weight rating of 26,000 pounds or less; and
  • Has never been registered or titled in Oregon (except as a dealer demonstrator).

Well while that sucks, it doesn't suck nearly as bad as paying $5000 for taxes here in Texas. Ill pay a few hundy and save a bundy LOL

Like I said, being from out of State, you wouldn't have a tax to pay, unless you stayed and licensed it here.

Someone from Oregon reading this doesn't have a choice..

This same situation may exist for other states. It is worthwhile to check. I think where you register the camper may be the key to if you pay taxes. Some states put a plate on the camper, many do not. In some, it is just cargo like anything else you put in the bed of the truck. I think the standard rule "never assume" applies here. When we were shopping our camper, I always asked about taxes. Sometimes a dealer may advertise there are no taxes as though it is an automatic advantage to the buyer, but the only price that really matters is the one you end up paying after you get it home.

Would love some interior shots of the dinette when you get it. I've not seen any of those yet.
HOST will have a sticker on it showing the as-built weight vs base weight. Even loaded out I don't think you are going to get 6K lbs out of it. I am also going to be pulling a trailer around <5000 lb loaded

2011 F 350 Dually, Arctic Fox 1150, pulling trailer 10,000 lbs. Total weight tow/payload was just over 15,000 lbs. Stable Load uppers, Rancho 9000XL shocks only mods I had, later I added the Big Wig sway bar. It sits level and rode good on that 1500 mi trip, still got about 11 mpg.

Its not likely to show up till after Nov, but will post when I get my hands on it. Trying to mate up my 20 F450 withe the Host M..The dinette is U shaped, I have actually never seen one but it is what I had in my Arctic Fox 1150, guessing same same.

Should be there:

From the 2020 order guide, Page 1 "Major Product Changes" . So it appears it had gone from an option to std equip or that is how me and dealer read it. What do you think?

Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System w/Pro Trailer Backup

Assist Package (53R) – optional on XL, XLT and Lariat; std

on King Ranch®, Platinum and Limited

Deleted

— Platinum Ultimate Package (96P)

— Tow Technology Bundle (96T)

The deal at Tom's Camper is $475 gets it delivered in New Mexico. You come in have your Truck outfitted with the Talon package, do all your paperwork and inspection etc. Then you physically meet them in New Mexico where they offload and you load on. $475 is a bargain vs Tex tax at 6.25%

Texas: No Registration, no license fees on the TC, but it is a taxable item for Sales Tax at 6.25% be it new or used.

Hmmm - seems like it! That's cool as long as it's really there. That's one of those 'must haves' for me if I upgrade. I'd probably be triple-checking before they won't let the order be modified!

The sticker on my 2015 Host Mammoth says it weighs 4,550 lbs "as optioned", which is dry. Add 60 gallons of fresh water, 15 gallons of propane, batteries, and all your gear, and we get around 5,300 - 5,400 pounds.

Good info. Ive been thinking it would have been a lot higher. Only one Ive actually seen in person was at Host in Bend Oregon, being picked up. Was on the back of a fairly new Dodge 3500 and it was sagging really bad for being empty. Might not have had anything on his truck but tie downs. I know Randall wasn't happy seeing him leave that way. Saw that Host delivers them with F-350 SRW with one on the back and towing 2 more.

I'm going with their mid level off -grid package and know the trade off of the standard batteries for the 4 lithium and inverters changing is about a wash. The panels cant weigh that much I guess.
