vacuum tree

I'm having a serious problem with the vacuum tree loosening up on my 67 390 after about 20-30 mins of the engine running. I have been putting teflon tape on the vacuum tree to ensure it doesn't leak, is that my problem of why it keeps lossening? If not what should I do?

Never heard of that. How much torque are you putting on it? I used teflon on mine but it probably isn't all that necessary. You could put the teflon about halfway up the threads and put a small bit of loctite on it. I wouldn't get carried away with the loctite though.

Could be that the threads on the tee or in the intake are worn enough that they don't grab well anymore. Pipe threads are a friction fit. Loctite makes a pipe sealant that is also a thread locker, called PST part number 592 for a small tube.

Mine is loose again too and I tried the pipe sealant, it did not work for long. I think maybe the heat destroys it. I have a 1965 390 in my 1971. I am starting to think red lock-tite.
