Tailgate Removal Kit?

I got a plastic bag in my glove box. Have no idea what its for...now I know..Will check it out in the am to see if it matches whats been posted above

Mine was in the glove box. I remove it every time I tow my fifth wheel trailer because the tailgate can hit the trailer when going over humps (railroad crossings mainly). Removing tailgate gives another 1inch plus of clearance. Plus I’ve noticed less wind noise when towing the fifth wheel with tailgate removed (might even help mileage)

Mine came with one but it was the wrong one. The dealer ordered the right kit. My OEM kit had 3 plug types. New kit had 4. I have the electric gate,rear camera, led lights,etc.

The “Unintended Tailgate Drop” recall fix added another one or two connectors... It’s a real pain in the a$$!

So if you follow the instructions to the letter, you disconnect the frame connections BEFORE you do anything else. However, I cannot open the tailgate after this step. You'd think they would explain to open the tailgate first, then disconnect those connections...unless I'm missing something...

like everything else you are supposed to get with a new vehicle....it winds up on eBay.

i was going to buy one since I got nothing with my new truck in 2019...but—-it appears the part numbers might vary with the model year.

Ended up with kit HC3T 15A562 which had almost all the plugs and also bought HC3Z 13A576 C separately. Have 1 little blue plug left, but all is ok. Thanks all!
