I run two separate systems. For my airbags I have the airlift 5000 which has a single compressor with a wireless controller for inflating/deflating my airbags. I installed this compressor under the bed above my spare tire. For my onboard air system, I bought the hornblaster nightmare system. This came with dual viair compressors and an 8 gallon tank. I mounted these compressors and the tank in my toolbox in my truck bed. Fits nice in front of my 5th wheel hitch. The horns are mounted in the rear above the spare tire and are on a relay that is activated using upfitter switch #4. The air system has enough power to run air tools.
Here is a link to my setup that I did a couple of years ago, still running strong with no problems. My entire system is tucked up along the passenger side frame rail, no holes were drilled into the frame at all to mounted everything. I also added a quick coupler in the bed for tools or filling tires and added an air horn to the system.
Lot's of great ideas in this thread from some smart dudes. I chose to mount my compressor in the bed in an unused space between the bed wall and the bed slide. The wiring/plumbing is cleaned up by now.
Bumping an older one here, but I have a question for you @rjbrittain11 . On your air set up, am I understanding correctly that you are running 1 compressor, 1 tank, dual needle gauge and switches and using it for on board air and for your bags as well? Without using "Normally Off Solenoids"?
I understand what you've done at the gauge, with separate lines to each bag; do you also have a separate gauge for just the tank pressure? What are you using to turn on your compressor?
Are the dual air switches in the dash for each bag enough to operate the bags without issues with the rest of the system, if there is no "Normally Off Solenoid" in the line?
Appreciate your time.
