Noob Question
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/v...EW1EF7HKD26966 this is a link to my truck spec (VIN included). Could someone please tell me the max weight of a trailer I can pull so I can get a trailer that once loaded doesn't exceed the max weight. Thank you.

Towing capacity is given by type, including drive train.
Payload capacity has to be figured given base + optional equipment + added equipment etc.

An easy way to figure out your max trailer weight is to work backward from the truck's maximum payload.
For example, if your maximum payload (from the sticker inside the driver door frame) is 1,700 lbs, it would go something like this:
1700 - passengers - cargo = maximum tongue weight
So if you have 350 lbs of passenger and 350 lbs of cargo, your maximum tongue weight would be 1,000 lbs.
A conservative number for tongue weight is 12%, so 1,000/0.12 = 8,333
That's pretty much how I do it. Others might have other ways.

Yep, you need a full rank of gas and yourself go get an actual weight on a scale. Then subtract actual weight of the other human / pet cargo. I actually add the stuff I plan to haul on the camping trip.Fishing would include tackle boxes, Ice chest loaded with at least 20lbs of Ice w/ beverage of choice, some food etc. not really much different but a few more Items on a camping and Fishing trip. You would be supprised at how fast things add to the weight.
