My radiator has an unused nipple on the filler neck, just below the overflow port, and the rubber end cap has cracked. I have seen this rubber end cap, held on by a hose clamp, bulging when the engine is at operating temp and it finally burst the other day. What should I use to cover the nipple that can hold up to the hear and pressure better? What is the point of this nipple anyways?
I would measure the outside diameter of the nipple and go to the auto parts store and see if they have a replacement plug made for just this purpose. I see your nipple is a bit bunged up, but with a little lube(maybe just water) you should be able to work the new plug on. Carefully place the hose clamp in the correct position. You may want to get a new one a bit smaller.
If they don't have the replacement plug and try to sell you a hose with a plug in, I would shop around. A hose with a plug in would add extra weight and strain to the already damaged nipple.

You should be able to find a rubber cap in the “Help” section at the parts store. For some models there was a hose that went from the throttle body to the radiator. Maybe a different (heavy duty?) cooling package. I added it to my Bronco.
In the past i have used 2 small hose clamps, a short bolt and a short length of rubber hose. put the hose on like the cap is on there now with a clamp, put bolt in the hose with some rtv dabbed on the threads and put the 2nd hose clamp over the hose and bolt. . never had an issue.
That line should actually have a connection to the metal pipe where your coolant temp sensor is, or in se applications it goes to the throttle body. I can upload pics of mine, it actually helps my system "burp" air from the block.
I had the opposite issue.. I replaced my radiator and it did not come with the nipple to connect my hose. So I screwed a bolt into the hose and used a hose clamp to make sure it was water / pressure tight. No problems in over a decade.
