E4OD forward ring gear question

Vehicle is a 1995 e350 with the 7.3. I’m new to rebuilding transmissions. At initial tear down I found a broken input shell, she was 2 separate parts. After further inspection found this, what I think is called, a forward planet ring gear, does this wear look normal or should I be looking for a new one?

Thanks for the replies. Here is another pic. I’m still trying to source a budget rebuild kit but don’t want any cheap parts. Any suggestions?

Junk for sure.

Precision paper and rubber kits have always been good for autos I build. I like Alto High Energy Graphite clutches, standard steels are fine for most people. I would do Kolene treated ones if you are making a lot of power or really working the trans hard daily.

Do a TransGo Tugger kit. Set shifts up for most mild, you can always increase firmness. Removing firmness is very hard. BTDT.

Replace the cooler if you had a catastrophic failure. You will spend a lot of time trying to flush it otherwise.

A low stall converter vastly changes the driving experience in a good way

Transtar is where I usually order parts. They have warehouses in all major regions.

If you don't have it yet. Get yourself the E4OD update manual from ATSG. This will help with the updates.

As for programming (shift kits) You can't go wrong with either Trans Go Tugger or Sonnax Sure Cure kit.

The kit I’m looking at is from Oregon transmissions. They have 2 applicable kits for my year trans, besides the steels I don’t know if there is any other difference. I wasn’t planning on a shift kit or tigger kit. If vehicle is used within capacity is it really a must have?

edit: this website also has the hard parts that I need

Improve its durability over stock with the SK. It is not about chirping the tires or some crap. Read the instructions on the kits for what they fix. Better snap ring, increased lube, cleaner shifts, etc. Tons of smalls.

Sonnax stuff great too. Used some bits with my TransGo on a 4L60E I built.

when you say a low stall converter, what speeds would be on the lower side?

My 6.4 I went with a 1500 or 1600 stall. It would flash to about 1200. Rememeber, that truck has compounds factory so a 7.3 may need a slightly higher unit due to less torque.

I only like to use Precision Industries units. I am sure there are plenty of good brands around that cost a bit less

Thanks for the response. I’m still weighing options while saving money for this rebuild.

Hope it helps! I put about 1300rwtq through that PI and never skipped a beat.

E4OD is not super complex, trans came out in 1989 so was probably designed in 1986 or 1987...it is basically a C6 with an overdrive up front. Tons of sub assemblies.

A guy on here recently rebuilt his, works fine. Place he bought stuff from has step by step videos even. If you can stay organized, do it.

I just rebuilt my e4od. I have never attempted anything like it before. I got all my parts as well as the instructions from transmissionbench.com. I went the transgo tugger kit, over all best thing you can do when rebuilding it. I love it. I would get a torque converter from https://www.alltorqueperformance.com/.

listen to trackspeeder and get a manual, transmissionbench.com has them as well. Hit man x will help all he can as well. If you want pm me and I’ll send you my number and I’ll help you all I can. You can do it.

Update

So I priced up the hard parts I’m going to need and they ain’t cheap. I’ve searched and found and purchased a working E4od out of a 95 f-450 (2wd) This particular transmission has the driveshaft brake or whatever it’s called. It presents the more questions than answers.
The old tranny had the slipyoke going right into the tailhousing and the new one just has a ujoint mount. I removed the tailhousing on the new one and the output shaft is shorter so here’s my question. Are all the parts interchangeable? I want to tear down the new transmission and basically install the output shaft and tailhousing of the old transmission into the new one... or something to that effect. Will this be possible?
