I have an early build 99 v10. I just replaced my fuel pump and assembly (installed a motocraft) my fuel gauge is reading empty now. It should be around half a tank. I drove it around the block a few times and the needle moved to about an 1/8th. Any ideas? Is it something that needs run time to calculate?
Nope, has to be something either wrong with the float sensor/wiring, or it's the wrong sensor. Do you still have the old fuel pump? You might be able to swap it.
I didnt get rid of anything yet. I'm wondering if I ordered the wrong one. There's too many to choose. I'm starting to think there wasn't anything wrong with my old one
Since I've owned it, it's always kinda stumbled into a start up after sitting for awhile. Had my headgasket go out at 173k so I decided to just throw in a remaned engine. Start up symptoms didnt go away. I had my gf take it to work (works at ford) the guys there said my fuel pressure was bleeding off and that's what was causing the start up issue. About a week after that it started having a misfire. Threw a code for random misfire and cylinder 10 misfire. I thought it had to be cause by the bad/leaking pump.
This morning when I started it up, it still stumbled
Yes. And pcv, IAC valve, cleaned the MAF, replaced numerous vacuum lines, fuel filter, brand new spark plugs. Only thing left are the coils. I was told they were replaced at 150k but he used accel, not motocraft
Ok fuel gauge is working now. I filled up and it shows full. Truck is still running rough. Threw a code for p0153
Are you sure you don't have a intake manifold or gasket leak or any place after the maf? That will give you a lot of different problems depending on the temp of the motor with things expanding or contracting.
