Anybody have a source for a snap ring pliers for a clip like this? Nothing in my tool box seems to work very good. Found one online for a $40 but seems a bit speedy for single use..
Got them out with a screw driver but re-installing is a challenge so far...
KD Tools #2534, made just for external snap rings, they have flat ends that catch the ends of the rings. Is that the output shaft snap ring on the 3-sp? If your ring looks like that, consider yourself blessed. Every one I've opened has the beveled ends cut the other way, making it impossible to grip anything.

For that type of snap ring you should use parallel opening pliers. Yes, a good pair will run around $40. Good luck.
If you know exactly which pair you need you might fine a good set on ebay. Sometimes you can get a smoking deal, but for a tool truck name brand you will still typically pay over 50% of new. At least that has been my experience.
I couldn't find this earlier. This is a drawing I made of the snap ring that was on my output shaft. I ended up cutting it with a Dremel, what else can you do ??!!? Nothing would grab it.
