help! how to disconnect a quick +

Guys, help. Need to disconnect clutch hydro line to take off the box. I did this before about two years ago just by cutting the hose and then putting it back using a heat gun. It worked fine, but this time I want to do it correct. I heard this quickie is a piece of cake if you know where to press Can anyone explain how I should take this mother apart?!?!?! Maybe draw a couple of arrows on the picture?

I've seen this tool before. where should I apply it? I mean should I put the U-part around the white plastic ring? Or between the plastic and end part (the one with the hose)?what part should go where after applying this tool?
