Should my front hubs be locked full time? On my F250 the hubs we're supposed to lock and unlock with the use of 4x4 but this was a solid axel. On my F150 they seem to be locked all the time. I'm just curious if they are not unlocking and causing extra drag or if this is by design.
It is my understanding that the IWEs disengage with vacuum in 2wd - so no the hubs should not be locked all the time. That said, the truck does need to be running for the hubs to disengage. As a test, can jack up front and start truck - they should spin freely without half-shafts / differential spinning.

Thanks! I currently have no fuel tank in my truck so I can't test that right now, but I will have to try that when I get it put back together.
You could also get a vacuum pump at HF, hook it to the hose off the solenoid going down to your IWEs, pump up the vacuum, and see what happens then.
Plus, you get a new tool!!!!
