That doesn't look OEM but it looks like it's been providing a valuable service.

I think you need to figure out that part of the cooling system so you can either rehab that mess or replace it with something that works.

Serving suggestion.

That is the secondary cooling tank for the 750 GPM PTO pump on the frame. Since it is coming out -my guess is SO IS ALL OF THAT. Plan is to just get an FE thermostat housing and eliminate the dual water feed

Not sure on the t-stat swap. My guess is that you'll figure it out. Keep the old parts....

You are correct, fire apparatus are run under load while setting still. The piping is for a heat exchanger to help cool the engine using the water from the pump.

THANK YOU I figured it was specific to the Americal LaFrance pumper part of the truck.

I have been carefully Un firetruck ING the unit. Have all the gauges, controls and light off. There is a swap meet for Firetucks in Frankenmuth in a couple of weeks

Mark

Ps not bringing the pump or crossover but will try and sell before scraping

That red crap can go, the brass tank with the radiator cap is the factory radiator fill, you'll need to keep that.
Assuming it has a 391 HD engine it came with dual thermostats.

Thank you - glad you mentioned that it is the factory set up. Guess I will leave it the dual thermo for now.
