Quick answer please!

I'm putting in my new thermostat and of course didn't pay attention to the old when it came out. Do I put the little rubber washer on top of the stat after it's in or does it go first then the stat sits on top of it? It didn't feel right putting it in and letting the stat sit on top of it. My gut says it goes on top of the stat. I stopped and ate supper so this threw me off as well.

Stat in water pump then 0ring then housing

You are the man! Do you use silicone for a thin layer around top of water pump housing to prevent leaks?

Yes I use a thin layer of silicone (RTV) around the thermostat housing neck. Otherwise it leaks.

You can, just make sure you don't use to much, you don't want it to squeeze out onto the thermostat.
