Hello Everybody, my 2013 F550 has started missing or cutting out every once and awhile when it’s cold. Almost like the key was shut off for a second. Today when I took off for work it started missing real bad and went into Limp mode I’m thinking. I drove it back to the shop slowly and checked the code. It’s P1205 No 5 injector Circuit open/shorted. I cleared the code and let the engine warm up then took back to work. It’s been fine since but is this a wiring issue or do I need a new injector? Any help would be appreciated thanks.
I think it's best to have an injector test performed on all eight to start. I've had to replace my #5 and it was under performing compared to the other seven when reviewing the line graph.

Ok thanks for the help. I’m going to book it into the dealership for next week and see what they can do. I had an injector knock about 6 months ago and some fuel conditioner seemed to help but I’m betting it’s the same injector.
These new diesels are nice and powerful but they sure have lost reliability. I think our fleet will be switching to gas in the future. Sounds like the new 7.3 gas engines are pretty simple and hopefully reliable.
How many miles? They really haven't lost any reliability, old injectors on old diesel engines, one injection per power stroke of the engine, modern injectors, 5-10 injection events per power stroke, mostly due to noise and emissions. Before i get flamed on the 10 injection events per power stroke I just read on an article about the new 3.0 duramax injection system.

Only 230 000kms it’s its pretty much been one thing after another. DEF sensors, DEF tank heater, oil leaks, coolant leaks. After we deleted it it’s been better but i just don’t think it’s worth the extra money.

Mostly emissions related problems it sounds like. I'm not going to argue, the cost benefit is pretty much gone with diesel fuel prices being higher than gasoline typically. Hook up to a trailer with a diesel and then the convenience factor is almost worth the additional cost. Oil leaks and coolant leaks are nothing new with diesels, we've just come to expect them not to do that anymore. Old 12v cummins and 7.3's are leaking something from somewhere, and if they're not, they're usually out of that fluid. The 7.3 gas engine will be great for fleets, I hope it turns out to be as good as they're hoping.
