Does anyone know how to power up the digital odometer on a removed instrument cluster to check mileage? My 2003 F250 7.3 4x4 has 197,683 and I'm trying to find a used cluster close in mileage of my truck. Theres 9 of them at my local pick, pull and pay salvage yard, but most of the trucks are minus the harnesses. Would rather power them up there to check mileage instead running back and forth. Just about every cluster I find on Ebay and the like, says mileage unknown. Yet they indicate the cluster has been powered up and thoroughly tested. Well, if you power it up, you should know the mileage since its stored in the odometer, not the PCM.
I could fork over $400 to Ford for a new, but being a disabled vet on a fixed income, I don't have that in my budget. My cluster is beyond repairable as it took a direct hit from a treated 2x4. My son had a load of fence material in the bed and chose not to strap it down for the 2 mile drive. Car stopped short, he slammed the brakes and 2x4s blew out the rear window and crushed the cluster and bezel.
Any help with pin location to power up odometer would be greatly appreciated
