Question Front Sway Bar Bushing fitment...

I have a 2000 Ford Excursion Limited 4x2 with a V10.

I purchased an Energy Suspension 4.5180R Front Sway Bar Bushing, and I am having a problem. The bushings fit fine onto the front sway bar, however the U shaped mounting bracket doesn't fit at all. The U shaped mounting bracket is too narrow. In other words, the new bushing is wider then the U shaped mounting bracket.

Did I purchase the wrong bushing, or do I need to purchase new set of U shaped mounting brackets. And if the later, then can you advise me of the correct part number to order?

Thanks,
Randy R...

What does this U shaped bracket do?

Can't it just be opened up a bit or is the "U" part not wide enough.

Ah heck...got pics?

Gosh, that's frustrating to take something aparrt and then have to put it back together !!!

Sounds like the wrong part number to me...

Stock Bar and Stock bushing size?

I'm planning on replacing my stock bushings with the Energy bushings in the near future and I hope you just happened to get one of the 'idiots' behind the counter that didn't care to match up the part with the vehicle !

Call JC Whitney or Autozone or Energy bushings to ask what the correct part number should be, that may narrow it down...

Hello Randy R,

Just wondering how you made out? Did you contact Energy Sus? I have a 4x4 and am interested in the same upgrade. Sorry I could not be of any help

So far... no good.

I emailed Energy Suspension on Sunday, and I've yet to hear back... Work had been really busy during that past few days, so this "personal" issue hasn't gotten a priority interrupt yet.

I'll update as I learn more...

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Randy R...

Are you trying to re-use the old bracket or trying to get the new one to work. I read where the new one has to be cut on the bottom holes(slot it straight down) for it to work. The poster said he loved the new greasable bushings too!

There are new brackets???? That's probably what I need... Re-using the old ones definately won't work.

Any clue what the part number is for the new ones?

Thanks,
Randy R...

Not sure of the part numbers. All the kits I saw at Murry's had bushings and greasable brackets.

I just got off of the phone with ES, and was told that I have the bushings for the 4x4, not 4x2 - they didn't show a listing for the 4x2. So, the tech support rep is faxing me the dimensions of the brackets that fit the 4.5180 (as this bushing does fit the sway bar diameter). I'll do some measuring, then call ES back.

Stay tuned...
