fishing/hunting Greeting from BC Canada. A retired newbie, picking up '63 F250 tomorrow for fishing and hunting (comes with a '63 Alaskan Camper. Any suggestions for sourcing a shop manual?
Glad this group exists, gonna need some help with the new truck. Thanks!
BCBOY: Welcome! The pre '66 Canadian trucks use different nomenclature for all the coding on the Warranty Plate and the vin.
Keep your eyes on Kijiji, and the other classifieds, as well as swap meets, and find yourself a 1961 Shop manual, and a 1963 supplement
(they didn't issue CDN 1962 or 1963 shop manual, just model year supplements to the 1961 shop manual)
I have actually picked up a few of these in the last two or three years, but they were purchased with other local guys I knew that needed them in mind. But, they are out there, just need to keep your eyes open,
***The Canadian Shop Manuals will have Ford & Mercury Trucks on the cover, the US shop manuals will not mention Mercury.....
Until you find Shop Manual(s), there is some useful info here.....including how to decode your Warranty Plate/VIN
That is interesting seeing the door cut into the side of the bed. My 59 had two on each side, for and aft of the wheel-wells , to use the area for storage because it had a SportKing cabover camper when I first got the truck. Post up a bunch more photos, please.
Welcome to FTE! Looks to be a very well preserved example, no doubt to the camping boom of the 60's. After a safety inspection, there are many worthwhile upgrades to a 56 year old vehicle. Most would recommend dual brake master cylinder with a power booster and maybe a 3.73 or 4.10 ratio change. Storage box cut outs were quite common in the early days of camper pickups.
Yes, the truck is in great shape, low miles (34,000). The dual master has been done, thinking a booster is in order. The pics you posted are great!
It has a 292, decently peppy but probably extra thirsty too!
