1986 BII 2.9 auto just installed manual TC no wires hooked to it used to be touch drive

pulled codes and got a 31 and an 89 any idea what this could be

From http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/2digit.html 31 is an EGR code. I'm not too familiar yet with the EGR system on the 2.9, and the diagnosis depends on which EGR system it has.
89 indicates a broken wire/broken connection to the transmission lockup solenoid
