You made a good choice by not staying at the casino RV park in Wendover. The place is just inside Utah, kinda' pricey for what it is, and LOADED with Goat Head burrs. My dogs sure didn't like it!
On leaving town the next morning (we were headed west last summer), we stopped at the supermarket at the west end of town. While Marge was inside, I noticed the alternator wasn't putting out juice. After digging out the spare, the truck seemed to have second thoughts about failing something so easy to fix, and started charging again before she got back out to the parking lot. It's still charging just fine, and hasn't hinted at a recurrence.
Thanks so much for the very in-focus photos of the plaques, and all the others, too.

the KOA i stayed at was very nice and clean. 23 dollars for one night in a 50' pull through with power and water hookups even! at first i was unsure if they would let me stay because i was just sleeping in the cab, no tent, etc. but the nice lady at the front desk accommodated me.
no problem on the plaques! i wanted them clear myself because there was so much good info on them to share.
hopefully in the not too far future i can purchase a small 5th wheel toy hauler and do more traveling.
Started at the river and headed west. Camped out two nights. Weather was beautiful.
I decided to take Cam and see how he would do out there because most of the way is semi ok road. Well, there were a few tough climbs at first but crawlly stuff.
He loved it. The first day he was a bit unsure but once he figured out the truck was gonna bounce and he’d be ok he was good.
These pics are little gardens located at the “mailbox” which is a box with a guest book inside to sign.
The ‘74 ran like a champ as always.
I was about a week behind you Justin, passing through Wendover and the Bonneville flats. On the 28th we drove from Reno to Salt Lake, and it rained like an SOB that afternoon. We parked in the Wendover lot long enough for a burger and a squat, then pressed on. By the time we were going across the salt flats, it was no longer a dry lake, with several inches of water deep. It was well into darkness, and a little bit scary pulling the fifth wheel. I guess rain events like that are necessary to prep the surface for racing. Kind of like a Zamboni for dry lake beds.
We spent a week in Bridgeport CA, then most of a week in Casper WY. Got home last Sat.
The A-bomb didn't end WWII. Even after two A-bombs were dropped and Truman told the Japanese that a rain of A-bombs would be unleashed (it was an idle threat, we didn't have any more) unless the Japanese quit, they still fought on.
FDR had demanded at the Casablanca Conference that the Germans and Japanese surrender unconditionally. Churchill was horrified, said now the Germans and Japanese will fight on with more intensity, which is exactly what happened. Stalin had declined to attend, citing that the ongoing Battle for Stalingrad as the reason.
In 1945, the Japanese had sent 'peace feelers' thru the Swiss Embassy, were concerned that the Emperor would be replaced, possibly hanged as a war criminal.
When the Japanese were informed that they could keep their Emperor, but he would take orders from us, the Japanese still fought on.
It wasn't until the Emperor at a cabinet meeting spoke up (he was usually silent) saying "We must bear the unbearable," that it was all over, they quit several days later (VJ-Day, August 15).
The surrender documents were signed September 2, aboard the USS Missouri. This battleship was selected, because Missouri was Truman's home state.
