How do I clean the MAF?
My question is how do I clean the MAF, the IAC and similar shade-tree jobs that I can do. I've given myself a migrane attempting to find all this on my own. I'm on a limited budget, just as many of you guys are. I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks!
PS. I only use my Ranger for running my rural mail route of 100 miles/day (60-70 % dirt roads...if you wanna call it dirt) and bouncing around the pasture. All B.S. aside, I have had the very best experience with fords(on my 4th). Had a goat...too much body noise and fed it too much gas - rolling it on the interstate was the best thing that happened to me in 2001. After that, shelled out the cash and bought, at that time, my dream truck! A brand new shiney red Z-71 ext. cab with all the bells and whistles. For such a "tough" truck, I had to do a crap-load of maint.!!!! traded it for a 2002 S-duty......been exstatic ever since! (thank you superchips) BTW...wifey drives the s-duty
My left shoulder warns of impending weather now, but it's cool. I got lucky. Passenger side....fubared. Driver side...not a scratch. I'll try to post pics. thanks for the concern!
Now that I'm experienced in this area, I can pass this info along you're question:

These 3 items are what I've done so far: On my 90 Ranger 2.3L, there may be some differances than w/ your 3.0: I Simply removed the 4 screws holding on my Throttle Body. Both the IAC + TPS were connected to it. The IAC is a long valve w/ a 3 wire connect coming from it + 2 screws hold it in place onto the body. The TPS has a 4 wire connect also w/ 2 screws holding it in place. The MAF; located on the filter housing, has a 4 wire connect + 4 screws holding it in place. Go to Sticky: Tech Info for more.
