I don't think a loose cable would cause parasitic draw. But leaving a 12 volt device on would certainly do that. Tighten down the cable, on a fully charged battery, and you should be okay.
While you were roasting, it was cool, breezy, and in the low 60's. I was very comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. With the wind blowing in off the ocean, I think I'll enjoy a refreshing beverage.
True, but it may be a cause for it not to charge when it is loose. I have the tools, and will wait for the heat to go down some, then go out and connect the battery, then turn off that hoist. Can't find my battery terminal cleaner, but I will make do with a fingernail board. LOL

No sos pad? I've even cleaned terminals with a ******* file
Warm here today in the low 100's. Headed out to northern Siskiyou County tomorrow, so it should hopefully be cooler.
Still need to bathe Big Red from the trip to the Scout Camp near Fort Bragg. 13 miles one way on a one lane Mendocino Logging Road in caravan will make any vehicle dirty.
Yeah. An SOS pad would work great. We topped out yesterday at 88 F. Hot enough for me. I did some weed whacking around the perimeter, then hung up my spurs for inside stuff. It did not cool off much last night; the OAT is 78 now. The weather guesser last night said today should be cooler, then heating up again for Saturday & Sunday. We shall see.
The SOS pad worked great. Except for the blue soap dust. Which I wiped most of away. The rest will be blown out once I put some miles on it. 105 yesterday with more of the same today. Wanted to get the battery connected before it got too hot, but even at 10am, I was sweating like a pig when done. Sienna starts right up, and I turned off the hoist switch, so it should be good.
I spent a good part of the morning hacking away poison oak around the back side of our water tanks. I dressed up in a disposable Tyvek suit (with a hood), and heavy duty disposable gloves.
Piled all the cuttings into our ATV wagon (with a big disposable drop cloth draped over the whole thing). Then hauled all the cuttings down the hill where they won't harm anyone.
Afterward, I reverse-stripped the suit, gloves, and drop cloth into the trash. Took a cold shower, then went out and wiped down the ATV, wagon, and loppers with alcohol.
My SO is pretty sensitive to PO, and I try to be extra careful. I can get the stuff, but it doesn't seem to bother me much or for very long.
Here in San Francisco, we had a great bank of fog, blanketing the Western part of The City. Everything West of Twin Peaks was cool. Just the way I like it.
I bought tri tip for $2.88 per pound. Milk was $3.79 a gallon, which is higher than gas @ $3.39 a gallon. Something is not adding up. It cost more to drink milk, than drive.
Cooked standing rib roast, and tri tip last week. It seemed like the inexpensive tri tip, is actually a better cut of meat. Does anyone else think that the tri tip has more flavor? With the right technique, time, and temperature, tri tip is very juicy and tender.
I'm a huge fan of hickory-smoked tri-tip.
What hickory does to tri-tip should be illegal -- it's addictive!

Good to know. I've always tried to make sure I have Applewood pellets whenever I do ribs. Now I'll have to make sure I have Hickory on hand whenever do Tri-Tip.

It's bit too far north for me, but if you ever do anything closer to my neck of the woods, I'll see if I can move my schedule around to enjoy some award winning BBQ!
We have a gas grill, and for the most part, that does it for me. I have contemplated getting one of those SS smoker trays you set on top of the burners for those occasions when that hickory smoke or applewood flavor is what you're looking for.
Glad that you got the battery back in your van, and that you didn't have a bad alternator. .
Thought about you this morning. It was 57 degrees. I took a trip to my local Blue Oval Vendor. I had to use my fog lights to get there. From their yard, the San Bruno Mountain was covered in fog.
Last time I was there for warranty work, the service advisor wrote up the order wrong, and ordered the wrong part. Now I'm back, because the correct part finally made it's way to the dealership.
"5150, what are you doing here? Do you have an appointment? What do you want?"
Nice manners, Mr. Service Advisor. My parts finally came in. Your manager called me. He said that I could come in at my convenience, and that you would place my work order at the front of the service line. I got one of those customer surveys from Ford Motor Company, asking me to grade you. Look at me. Am I satisfied? This could go 2 ways. I could tell them how great you are. Or I could tell them the truth.
"Here, take one of these. And please, next time, have 1 of the other guys here wait on you when you bring your car in."
Apparently, they keep "free oil change" coupons handy, and ready to give out as they please. If any of you guys try hard enough, you could photoshop your name and change it to whatever local dealership is closest to you.
Check these guys out. For me, it's the only place to buy from. But only because I live in The City, so they're practically right next door. Although restaurants from all over order from them. Yes, the product really is that good.

I've never done this myself. But I've always heard that you can improvise indoor, stove top smoking.
