You will find that "open carry" isn't what you want it to be. For instance, walking down the Las Vegas Strip with a sidearm is not the same as a shotgun in the rack of your truck in Winnemucca.
If you want to carry, conceal it, and nobody will ever know. Nothing crazy like an ankle holster. 5 shot .38 will be fine for self defense. Small enough for front pocket of your jeans. Just don't wear something n tight pants.
If I carry concealed, no one will ever know until I need to use it to defend my life. Then I will be the one going to prison for carrying concealed without a permit. That is why I wish I lived in any state other than Kalifornia.
Well, the VA just called and said they don't supply power lift chiars. So now I am back to finding out how much it will cost to fix mine.
If I carry concealed, no one will ever know until I need to use it to defend my life. Then I will be the one going to prison for carrying concealed without a permit.
If you really had to defend your life, you would not be going to prison for self defense. By law, you are allowed to use deadly force to preserve your life, and the lives of others. If a crazy person were swinging an axe at Walmart, and you shoot him. That would be justifiable. If a person twice your size, had your neck pinned down, and he was raping you; you could shoot him. I doubt if any local authorities would want to pursue a misdemeanor charge for concealed carry or discharging a firearm in public.
Remember that a gun charge is a misdemeanor. Not a major felony. Even less than a year in the county jail, and less than $1,000 fine, is better than being killed & raped.
Chances are good that a police officer will not do a NY "stop & frisk" in Fresno. You're probably not a known parolee eligible for warrantless search & seizure. You're probably not standing on a street corner motioning to passing motorist, attempting to engage in illicit activity. And you will probably never fit the suspect description for a crime just occurred; which would give law enforcement reason to detain and investigate.
Where people like yourself, everyday tax payers, usually get caught, is in traffic stops. Cops pull you over for a busted tail light, or being 2 seconds slow on a yellow. Situations which they probably would give you a warning, and not even issue a vehicle code violation. During the course of the conversation, the cop will ask, "do you have any weapons?" or "would you mind if I had a look?". Compliant, honest citizens like you would say, "sir, I have a gun in my sock", or "my locked & loaded HK MP5 is under the pillow cushion which my cat is sitting on".
Not that I advocate for anyone to carry a concealed firearm. Surely, I would not want you to go to jail for 364 days, or pay $999 fine. But just remember that peace officers who carry firearms are not only trained in the use of that firearm, educated on reasonable use of deadly force, but also physically trained in firearm retention. A gun would be useless if you cannot hang onto it. If you draw a handgun, and the attacker simply takes it away from you, then you've just opened up a new can of whoop-*** on yourself. Are you confident that you would be able to physically fight off the attack, and retain control of the weapon? As I tell girls: if the guy is able to take your purse, he'll be able to take your gun from you. Is that gun in your purse, which he just snatched out of your grip?
Man with a CCW in San Diego county sees a woman and her 7 year old daughter being attacked by two pit bulls. When the pit bulls turn to attack the man, he pulls his weapon, and kills one of the pit bulls. There were several witnesses. The man is charged with cruelty to animals, and firing a weapon inside city limits. He was arrested, and had to pay for the loss of the dog. And he HAD a CCW. Imagine what the media and law would have done if he were carrying illegally? The CCW carriers in this state are more afraid of the media persecution, and government prosecution, or lawsuits from the victim's family taking everything they own, that most of them refuse to step up when anyone other then them, or their family is being harmed. In Arizona, the Governor asked all CCW carriers to try and help should an active shooter incident take place near them. No way in heck would the Kalifornia Governor ever make a plea like that.
Hello FTE Friends , I’ve seen many women that could hold their own , being raised around firearms all my life , same with my wife, everybody in my house I’ve shown how to handle , load , and shoot , I really enjoy shooting , especially at gofers ,
Its been bizy around here , took two weeks vacation to Hawaii , if food wasn’t so expensive over there , I think I could live on that island , not in Waikiki , on that island it would have to be North shore , high on the mountain , big island kona most likely up in the mountains , where no lava flows , lol , ok at least not recently , it seems the whole island , even Cattle country has been covered , I’ll post up some pics off my phone for y’all viewing pleasure .
speaking of pleasures, 5150 your cheep but not free , everything comes with a price , you must be doing the plumbing right , other wise those hot meals turn into cold sandwiches , just keep the fences painted and the bushes trimmed ,
Stewart , something about Reba ( could be the red hair or lips ) just turns me ooooonnnnn , besides being a great female vocalist and country girl at that ( that’s it Country girl) , brooks n Dunn were good too , seen them 6 years ago in the Bay Area venue.
Jim , what’s your chair not doing ? Motor related , spring ? , I’ve had to fix both of our recliners , the cheep bolt snaps , the chair starts to lean then the dam spring comes off, keeping you in what I would guess 30 deg angle, I slipped in a hardened machine bolt from my screw / bolt box , problem solved .
Almost everything you need in Hawaii is imported. Food. Fuel Drugs...... Et Cetera. But the most expensive thing there is the real estate. It's expensive to buy or rent.
If you can afford the land, Hawaii would be the perfect place to set up your own self sustaining ranch. Grow enough produce on that rich volcanic lava soil. Raise a few animals. Fish from the ocean. Those native Hawaiian girls are HOT!
Maybe the government will pay me to live there, like Alaska.
The motor works fine in the chair. Goes up and down no problem. However, the backrest will not stay up. It will not support my back, it flops over at the mere hint of my back touching it. Two screws worked their way out, and I am not sure if they can be screwed back in. If they can, I will add a touch of Krazy Glue to them so they don't work their way out. They go into some kind of slide looking hinge. I will try tomorrow when the sun is up and more light, to tip it over and repair it. Getting nothing from Furniture City.
Just watched a video where an ex Californian moved to Nevada, and as soon as he got his Nevada DL, he went and bought a gun. He wanted to compare the process to that of Kalifornia. He bought the cheapest gun they had (Taurus G2S 9mm) for $200, and filled out the background check, then went up front to pay the cashier. While he was putting his credit card away, the salesman brought the gun over, and said here you go. He asked how long he had to wait for the background check, and the salesman said it is already done, you can take your gun home. Welcome to America. If Nevada can do a background check in 4 minutes, you know darn well Kalifornia can do the same. They choose not to, and to add a 10 round clip law, and a background check for all ammo purchases law. I wish the citizens would stand up and vote those down, but I have never even seen any of them on the ballots.

Get some toothpicks from a Chinese restaurant. Dip in wood glue, then insert as many as will fit into the hole. When glue dries, cut off the protruding ends, and roughly sand off toothpick nubs. Your screws can now thread into the repaired hole. If spend some money. Any hardware or lumber store should sell wood dowels.
I don't know if the wooden dowels will stand up to the weight of my big bum. (Currently 337 lbs) I will try the screws first, if they don't work, I might try the dowels, but would not feel safe using them.

I did something almost exactly like that a couple weeks ago. The doorstop in one of our doors had pulled out, and there was no "meat" to hold a couple of the screws. I just pulled out a handful of toothpicks and some wood glue. Coated and packed them into the hole. Waited an hour, then sawed off the excess. Then the screws went back in, and they're still holding.

Unfortunately they voted all those laws.
Prop 63 (Ammo): "People buying ammunition in California are going to get the same background checks required for purchasing a gun, as the final provision of a 2016 ballot measure aimed at preventing convicted criminals from owning and using firearms takes effect.
Supporters of the new law, which passed with the support of 63% of California voters, say the background checks will prevent people prohibited from buying ammo from doing so."
The mag capacity law has been around for a long time.
Either way Jim, I agree, it friggen sucks. The Nevada experience is something Cali residents will never know, unless they leave.
If I could, I would leave Kalifornia today. However, that would require transferring Section 8, SSDI, and finding a place close to a good VA hospital. My brother lives in Oregon, and I would move up there, except the VA system sucks up there for some reason. He is constantly having issues with billing. I remember back in 1990 going to Bullhead City, AZ, and getting gas at a local station I saw a person in a pickup truck carrying what looked like a 44 mag revolver on his hip. Nobody even looked twice at him. I would love to be able to open carry. I would be willing to bet Arizona's crime rate is nowhere near Kalifornia's.
Oh well, when I do get another gun I will just carry inside my apartment. A local gun store is having a Veteran's sale October 19-20th, I hope to have enough saved to get another gun. maybe one smaller than the S&W SD9 I had, but if not, at least I already have an extra mag, and ammo for it.
May need to slip a bolt through it , furniture makers take short cuts now days , had one salesmen tell me Ohh look at this beautiful wood grain , I look back at him and said Dude you know this is not real wood right , oh awe hmm du, it’s laminate glued onto partial board , nehhh it’s wood , nooooo it’s crap and won’t last a year . He didn’t know I knew wood , but he does now,lol
the County of Hawaii owns the best part of Cattle country , I’m sure I couldnt even touch that land being a white boy, the best part is those ranchers don’t even Irrigate, the southern part of big island looks dry and I seen irrigation sprinklers on those places , but high in the clouds is lush green tropical, with all the lulus going on I never smelled a hog ranch , kind of weird .
