Trouble removing front shocks

I started to remove my worn shocks to replace with Fox 2.0's but having trouble removing, there is no lower nut below the rubber to get a second wrench onto, at least not that I can see?

On the other side I have tried using a crescent wrench, but it ends up just crushing the thin metal and I think I have striped the top nut...

Not a lot of room to get a sawsall blade in there either...

Some helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Good pair of Vise Grips on the shaft (shocks are no good anyways) and impact gun up top. Wire brush the threads and Spray your favorite nuts off spray first & Zip zip on the gun. Sometimes some heat on the nut helps.

This ^. Clamp down on the shaft and shouldn't turn. Zip it off and throw the old shock in the trash.

The one thing I can add to this if you still have some flats to work with.
Heat it with gas torch and then once the nut and rod are red hot. Bucket
of ice water works well for that. Your looking to shock the joint boundries,

EDIT : 6 point wrench and not an open end.

x2... vice grips to hold it while you turn the wrench on the other side... or just get a grinder with a cutoff wheel and cut through it where the bushing is (or if you have the nut loose enough and access from the other side cut it loose under the nut)... youll be able to pull the nut and shank out the other side while the lower part can just be pulled out... thats the only 2 ways i ever get those stem styled shocks out... nut always gets stuck or the shaft ends up turning or both... why i always hate working on that style ...

couple times ive gotten lucky enough on a vehicle or 2 to just use a set of bolt cutters under the nut.. but thats few and far between...
